Jenny Balshaw, North Laine resident, writes:

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee was celebrated in style by the residents of Foundry Street.

Road closure agreed

Organised by Emma Hughes, Lucie Richardson and myself, and with the road closure agreed by the council, the inhabitants of the street came together to supply tables, chairs, food and drink to mark the occasion.

Bunting

Bunting was made in abundance to decorate the road, and luckily the weather held out for most of the day.

Local musicians and food

Monday 4th June’s party saw entertainment in the way of local bands and musicians, with some local food stalls also providing food to the residents and party goers.

A successful day

Despite no royal bank holidays as of yet for 2013, due to the success of the day there is already a committee in place to organise a similar event next summer.

Thanks to all who supported

We would like to thank everyone who came and showed support for the day, and hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did.
