Fun with your neighbours and strangers!
Fancy learning a new skill, meeting new people and serving the community all at the same time? Then consider doing a course at City College as part of its policy of serving the needs of the local community.
City College are interested in running courses for the local community and are surveying local people to see what could be popular enough to run a course on. But – these courses are open to anyone, they are not restricted to North Laine residents. Prices will be subsidised.
Do you have something you've always wanted to try?
Can you attend regularly for a few weeks?
Would you like to do something with your fellow residents?
Here is the list of provisional courses. We need at least 6 committed people to put on the course:
- Recording North Laine on film
- Publishing with Adobe InDesign
- Music lessons (specifically guitar tuition)
- Reading music notation
- Backyard gardening/courtyard gardening (for those of us with very small back yards)
- Basic fruit and vegetable growing
- Greener living - ways to live a more environmentally friendly life
- Personal financial management
- Introduction to social networking sites
- House history – beginners
- Using a digital camera
- Using an Apple iPad
- Making silver jewellery
- Craft, design and technology
The courses will run from April 2012 to June/July 2012. The 'North Laine on Film' course would be more a facilitated group project rather than a formal teaching course - people who are interested in writing, history, documentary and art would all have an outlet.
Please contact Teji Dhaliwal via Heather Shaw on acl@ccb.ac.uk or 07941 265 094 by Jan 16th 2012 if you would like to be put forward for one of these courses, stating your name, contact number and which course. We will be in touch in due course with the details should the course be viable.
