Event on 21st August 2011
By Jackie Fuller, North Laine resident
A collaboration between the NLCA and Brighton & Hove City Council park rangers brought about an event for children and adults in Pelham Square on Sunday 21st August.
Four sheep
The rangers brought along four sheep, only a few months old. The children (and some adults too) really enjoyed feeding them and giving them a cuddle.
Interpretation displays
There were also interpretation displays about shepherds, sheep on the South Downs and the history of sheep in relation to the North Laine, some by the park rangers and some by the North Laine Community Association.
Other attractions
The NLCA also put up a stall selling cartons of juice as well as some Action Men and Transformers, which were popular with the children.
Visitors well spaced out
People turned up throughout the afternoon, well spaced out so that there was never too much of a queue to go into the sheep pen.
Recorded in the local paper
The Argus took some photos and printed a feature about the event on Tuesday 23rd August.
Something a bit different
This was something a bit different for the North Laine area. Maybe there are local parents who would like to organise another event for children next year in Pelham Square....
