Attend these hearings if you can

AGM report by Licensing Coordinator, 2010/11
By Roy Skam

The past year started off very quietly but the last six months have been hectic. I am pleased to say the Police have recently been more active in opposing new licensing applications and variations. This has helped us immensely and as a result one mini-store application was refused, along with a local store not being able to extend its hours into late at night.

On our borders

On our southern boundary Sainsbury's Local in North Street was refused a licence. Naturally they have appealed to the Magistrates and the hearings will be at Brighton Magistrates Court on Friday 6th and Monday 9th May.  We urge all residents to attend if possible and show the Bench our objection to this appeal.

Licensing Strategy Group

NLCA officers attend the Council's quarterly Licensing Strategy Group, where we do our best to make them aware of drink-related problems in our area.

Support from our Councillors

Lastly many thanks to all our local Councillors, who have supported us throughout the year.
