For forthcoming AGM, 21st April 2011
By Peter Crowhurst, NLCA Vice-Chair

At our forthcoming  AGM (Monday 21st April 2011 at Community Base, Queen’s Road) we will be electing the officers for the coming year. We will need a new Treasurer, as our current treasurer Clifford Jaques is required by the Constitution to stand down after serving for four years.  We will also need a Chair, as that position remains unfilled from last year.

Other ways to help

In addition to requiring a new Treasurer and Chair, the Association also needs help with secretarial duties. This might involve taking the minutes of meetings, writing letters or distributing information via email. The Association also needs help with running meetings, either as Chair or Vice-Chair. If there is someone who might like to help with the role of chairing Association meetings but doesn’t want to take on the role of Chair, that is also possible.

Putting something back into the community

The debate we had about the NLCA's future during 2010 demonstrated that there is a need for the NLCA and that its work is appreciated. If you are a North Laine resident who appreciates the work that the North Laine Community Association does in the community and would like to become more involved and put something back into the area, why not consider putting your name forward?  The NLCA has struggled in recent years to find people to come forward to help run the organisation.  However, if we do not get residents to come forward to help with the running of it, it will eventually fold and I believe that the area would be the poorer without the Association.
