The shortest day

Burning the Clocks, 21st December 2010
By Jackie Fuller, North Laine resident

The shortest day of the year, 21st December, is the occasion for Brighton to celebrate the now traditional 'Burning of the Clocks'.

In 2010 this date fell on a very cold but dry evening and many people turned out to watch the parade. It started in New Road before wending its way through The Lanes to the seafront for the bonfire and fireworks.
