Annual street party on 15th August 2010
By Peter Fuller and Cheryl Hawkins, North Laine residents
We’re recalling the time spent at our second Kemp Street party with such pleasure - with all the familiar faces as well as new residents.
Lots of activities
The day was blessed with good weather and everything seemed to drift from one exciting event to another. It all seemed so perfect, from the specially prepared bunting representing the colours of our houses, to the communal food, entertainment and games, including Tug-of-War and street cricket for the enthusiastic, and bouncy castle for the energetic (children that is).
Thanks to the PCSOs
We welcomed several people from other North Laine streets and we must give extra special thanks to the Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) who joined us and participated in our games and activities, as well as mixing socially with all our residents. A wonderful community spirit!
Photographic quiz
We organised a special photographic quiz for everybody to enter and were given gift vouchers by Donatello's (to whom many thanks). These have now been awarded to two eagle-eyed residents!
Wonderful memories
These wonderful memories will linger well into the autumn and winter and perhaps thoughts will start to turn to the future running of this event. What a wonderful district we live in!
