Introduction

All were welcomed, particularly new members. 36 attended. Apologies were received  from Lizzie Deane, Heather Hacker, Tony McCully, Geoff Mead, Peter and Sally Stocker.

Minutes of last meeting

These were approved. There were no matters arising.

Environment
Licensing

- Budgens are applying for a 24 hour licence. We will send a letter of objection, but won’t attend as an association unless an individual resident wants to.

- Peter wrote an article for The Argus in early December expressing our frustration with the implementation of the Licensing Act and making the link to the increase in low level antisocial behaviour. There have been so many applications and, although residents have regularly objected, most have been approved.

Planning

- Beyond Retro have applied for a change of door. The meeting agreed not to comment.

- It was agreed that the other applications currently listed required no comment.

Reports
Runner

Jackie Fuller made a plea for articles as the January edition is usually the hardest to fill. It was noted that there will be an article about antisocial behaviour. Help is still required with advertising.

Any other business

- The Council is discussing the possible closure of the history centre.

- The Council is considering reducing speed limits in the city. Questions were asked regarding the merits of this move if there is not adequate enforcement of current speed restrictions.

- The plaque to the Warburtons is now in place on a bench in Pelham Square.

- The NLCA benefit album is still available for £3, and postcards for 25p each.
