'Rebecca' by Daphne du Maurier
By Peter Crowhurst, NLCA Theatre Group coordinator
Our August theatre visit
The NLCA Theatre Group will be visiting the Little Theatre on Thursday 30th September, to see their production of 'Rebecca'. Max de Winter brings his shy young bride to Manderley, his fine house in Cornwall. Everywhere she senses the presence of Rebecca, his first wife, drowned in a sailing accident. Mrs Danvers, the intimidating housekeeper preys on the new Mrs Winter's shortcomings. Then Rebecca's real remains are found. Has Max mis-identified the body? Was this deliberate?
The seething storm-tossed location, the dark suspense and the implacable clash of wills are all retained in this adaption of Daphne du Maurier's famous novel.
