The book and the rose

Event in Jubilee Square, 26th April 2009

Jubilee Square played host to a wealth of independent bookstalls and florists to mark St George's Day. The event was held on Sunday 26th April (11am - 6pm) in order that more people could enjoy it. (St George's Day was actually on Thursday 23rd April.)

The inspiration for this came from the Catalonian 'Fair of the Book and the Rose'. Each year in Barcelona the streets are filled with stalls selling books and roses. The tradition states that a book or a rose should be given to your loved one. There was also other entertainment such as story reading, music and performance.
