All the elements for a great parade
By Jackie Fuller, North Laine resident

Once again the Brighton Festival started in North Laine! The Children's Parade set off from Sydney Street at 10.30am on Saturday 2nd May and snaked its way down to Madeira Drive on the seafront. About 4,000 participants were expected to take part, from 70 schools and community groups.

This year's theme

The theme this year was the elements: earth, air, fire and water - and once again the parade was coordinated by Same Sky.

Hubbert's Peak

Other events were 'Hubbert's Peak' in Trafalgar Street Arches on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th May, described as a madcap eco-fable about man's limitless folly and performed on an open-air stage to live music by French street theatre company Les Alamas Givrés.
