Contribute your views
By Peter Crowhurst, NLCA Website Coordinator

This much anticipated contributory NLCA website was launched in July 2008 and in terms of its content, ease of use and presentation must be considered a tremendous success. The team that put together the website and continues to edit the comments and contributions that we receive must be congratulated for their efforts.

A vast array of articles

For anyone wanting to know anything about the history of the North Laine we have on the website a vast array of articles, which is growing all the time. We have information on environmental matters and in particular details of all current licensing and planning applications, with the facility for residents to make their views known. We advertise all NLCA events and have reports and pictures of those events as they happen.

Forthcoming first anniversary

To celebrate our forthcoming first anniversary we are planning to hold a quiz night in July 2009. Watch this website for further details.

Encouraging greater democracy

Our focus for the coming year is to encourage even more contributions from local residents, past and present. Although we have an abundance of material on the site, especially historical, North Laine residents are not yet giving us their views in the numbers hoped for, particularly on controversial environmental topics. An aim of the site is to encourage greater democracy within the area and to make it easier for residents to make their views known. We hope that in the coming year residents will not just use the site for information but will also contribute their views and memories.
