These are the main planning applications affecting North Laine during August and September 2008, together with NLCA comments as agreed at the monthly community meetings:
Diplocks Yard, 73 North Rd (BH2008/02421): Construction of new part single storey, part two storey offices. (Resubmission) NLCA: Not visible - no comment.
My Hotel, 17 Jubilee St (BH2008/02283): Extension of ground floor restaurant, new mid floor terrace seating with glass balustrade and change of use for pair of adjoining mews houses to a hotel. NLCA: Proposal is for a winter garden on square opposite library. Concern that it considerably reduces size of square. Object.
10-12 Frederick St (BH2008/02193): Erection of 3-storey building at 10-11 Frederick St for offices at first and second level and alterations to existing office building at No 12 Frederick St. NLCA: New office building infilling previous gap. Slight increase in width of previously approved building. House next door (No 12) remains. No comment.
Gunns Florist [new shop], 19 Sydney St (BH2008/01924): Provision of level access into shop with new shop front. Demolition of rear two storey extension and rebuilding of larger two storey extension. NLCA: Gunns Florist relocating. Slight change in pattern to shop front but not felt sufficient to object. No comment.
1 Pelham Sq (BH2008/01780): Replace roof from having concrete tiles to having slate tiles. NLCA: No visible change. No comment.
Headmasters, Unit 7, Jubilee St (BH2008/00891 & 00861) : New shop front and internally illuminated signs. NLCA: Already in place. No major issues - no comment.
I's Pies, 24 Gardner St (BH2008/00873): Change of use from (A1) Retail to (A3) Restaurant/Bistro and (A5) Hot Food Take Away (Retrospective). NLCA: Object.
Queensberry Hse, 103-109 Queen's Rd (BH2008/02190): Single storey roof top office extension and alterations to existing rear elevation. NLCA: This building already overshadows North Laine. Any further increase in height felt unwelcome. Object.
