The start of the third Biennial Photo Festival and the Brighton Photo Fringe on 3rd October 2008 saw launch parties for three exhibitions that opened in the North Laine - at Capers in Gardner Street, Jubilee Square and the Sydney Street Gallery.
Capers (next to the Dorset Arms) showed Michael O'Brien's 'Mum's got to sell the house', a collection of contemporary images all shot in the same location.
Jubilee Square had 'Baghdad Calling', Geert Van Kesteren's images of war captured on mobile phones, and the mobile caravan gallery, also in Jubilee Square, was showing uniquely British regional work.
Sydney Street Gallery showed Justin Thomas's collection of old unseen rock star images, 'The sunshine bores the daylights out of me'.
Other North Laine locations that showed work throughout the festival included:
- Brighton Museum & Art Gallery
- Blue Dog Gallery
- io Gallery
- Crane Kalman
- Ink_d
- Jubilee Library
- Nia
- the North Laine Photography Gallery at Snoopers Paradise
- Oki-Nami
- Pen to Paper
More information on all these exhibitions and others across Brighton can be found at Brighton Photo Biennial and Brighton Photo Fringe.
