Noise services

Interesting talk and question and answer session by Annie Sparks on Council noise services. Sandy Crowhurst took detailed notes, but one main theme was to encourage us to report nuisance noise:

Planning and environment 
  • 45-47 Cheapside - object to 2 storey addition as out of scale etc 
  • Block J Jubilee Street - object to large restaurant as damaging the mix of commercial use in the area. 
  • 36 Gloucester Road - object to change of hours. 
  • Block 2, Jubilee Street - no comment on technical changes 
  • Flat 4, 6 North Road - object to gates in front of disabled parking bay 
  • Whitecross Street - mentioned problems with cobbled seat 
  • Gloucester Street - succeeded in reversing attempt to cover tiles
  • Pym's Garden alley - Councillor to investigate whether gates to Pym's Garden alley (Orange Row) are appropriate, as they restrict access to a historic alley and remove a right of way.
  • Trafalgar Terrace - Report of period of major vandalism in Trafalgar Terrace, hopefully now ended due to co-operative action of residents.
Group reports

    Deadline for articles for the next Runner is the next meeting, 9th July. North Laine traders are about to introduce a reusable bag scheme.
Fundraising and social activities  
  • Next theatre visit is "Shape of Things" on July 5th. Details from Peter Crowhurst. 
  • The postcards are selling well, particularly the shoes on the line next to Ju-Ju.
  • A cheque will be coming in the next month for the CDs. 
  • There will be a picnic in Pelham Square on Sunday 19th August. More details in next Runner
  • David Sewell is kindly putting on another tea party for residents at the Pavilion Café on Sunday 2nd September. More details in next Runner
  • There will be a wine tasting event on Thursday 11th October. More details in next Runner.
