Five names since 1858

WHAT'S IN A NAME?

The current (2008) 'Foundry' pub at 13 Foundry Street was first opened in 1858 as 'The White Horse'.

In 1862 it became the 'Labour in Vain' and then briefly 'The Lamb'.

In 1869 it changed its name to the 'Pedestrian Arms' and remained with that name until 2007, when it became the 'Foundry', reflecting the name of the street in which it stands.
