Children's Parade, Brighton Festival 2008
Games on parade
By Jackie Fuller, North Laine resident
A lovely warm, dry day greeted all who participated in or watched this year's Children's Parade on Saturday 3rd May 2008, which started in Sydney Street and processed through the North Laine to the seafront. The theme this year was Children's Games. Given that there were a record 72 school groups participating, it was surprising that so few schools had chosen the same theme (the exceptions being Playing Cards, I Spy, Pin the Tail on the Donkey, and Monopoly). Once again many of the schools had their own samba bands helping to provide a carnival atmosphere.
Congratulations to all the schools and to the organisers Same Sky. It was a great procession with which to start the Brighton Festival!
