We need more entrants
By Gabrielle Villermet, NLCA City in Bloom representative

I continue to represent NLCA on the City in Bloom Working Group. This year the city did not enter the South East in Bloom competition but members of the 'In Bloom' group from Kemp Town in Bloom and also Rottingdean in Bloom entered and won awards. Brighton & Hove are hoping to enter into new categories in the future.

Living sculpture

We enjoyed seeing the 'Living Sculpture' in front of St Peter's Church earlier this year but unfortunately it was very soon vandalised by mindless people who climbed all over it and worse. It has now been moved to St Anne's Well Gardens, where it has fared slightly better but is now in need of tender loving care while its future is being determined.

High commendation to Chris

The Competitions in the Community produced fewer than usual entrants but we were delighted that one of our Street Reps, Chris McGivern, won a highly commended award in the Best Front Garden category.

We need far more residents and traders to enter the competitions this year.
