Contact point
I am the contact point for the NLCA's informal Parents' Network, which was set up in 2006 and continues to grow quietly. It takes advantage of the fact that the North Laine seems at this point in time to contain a high number of parents with young children - 15 babies and young children in my street alone now!
A loose network
The 'network' is loose and aims to be unpressurised, using email to raise issues or request advice (eg about nurseries, childminders, local trades people...) and meeting about once a month, generally in each other's houses. It can also provide the springboard for other friendships and babysitting exchanges, although there are as yet no formal babysitting circles.
Many parents were also the driving force behind the success of the two street parties held in September 2007.
How to be part of it
The network is shaped by the interests of those who get in touch, that is, we make it what it is. Do contact me (through this website) to add your name to the list, with a sentence about yourself and your interests for circulation.
