These are the main planning applications affecting North Laine during February and March 2008, together with NLCA comments as agreed at the monthly community meetings:

36 Church St (BH2007/04336 and 04459): Demolition of existing building with retention of front façade. Erection of new structure comprising shop, office, storage and 2 x 2 bedroom flats. Applicant: City Property Developments. NLCA: Applicant has provided 2 options. Option 1 is to refurbish existing building, including retention of façade. Option 2 is to retain façade but to demolish the remainder and rebuild with increased height. We prefer Option 1.

17A Trafalgar St (BH2007/04130): Increase in height of existing pitched roof and installation of 1 front and 2 rear dormers. (Resubmission of refused application BH2007/01341.) Applicant: A Mitchinson. NLCA: This proposal is very little different from the refused one. We still object to front dormers.

Old Music Library, 115-6 Church St (BH2007/04117): Conservation Area consent for change of use to a spa, retail area and café. Applicant: G Spirit. NLCA: No comment.

NLCA: Object to internally illuminated signage, which may not be in accordance with Council advertising policy. Also BH2007/04366: Installation of new shopfront. Retrospective permission was eventually applied for and we objected. Permission was refused by B&H Council. Applicant appealed but has since withdrawn the appeal and reapplied for permission. We are mystified as to why there is a new application. We still object.
