Considered for demolition
By Peter Crowhurst, North Laine resident
This is a photographic print of Gloucester Street, Brighton. It is a view along the street, focusing on several houses that were considered for demolition. One house has the front window boarded up, while another has metal bars in front of the window. All these houses show signs of damp.
This photograph was commissioned by the Environmental Health department of Brighton Borough Council. It formed part of a visual record of areas considered for slum clearance. These buildings were probably demolished in the late 1950s.
