Higher turnover

Both income and expenditure this year have been much higher than in previous years - income mainly due to the great generosity in memory of the Warburtons (£1770 was donated), and expenditure mainly because of the 30th anniversary events and the passing of £141 (originally collected for improvements to Pelham Square) to the Friends of Pelham Square. The net result is healthy, with over £1000 more in the bank at the end of the year than at the beginning.

30th anniversary celebrations

The 30th anniversary Ceilidh in October 2006 was particularly successful and its cost (including £288 for reusable banners) was partly covered by ticket sales and partly subsidised by the 'Warburton Fund', where £1100 remains. The anniversary postcards were well appreciated, and their cost was almost covered by a donation from Southern Water, with more money to come from the sale of the remainder. Huge thanks to Jackie Fuller and Mark Erickson for organising these events and to everyone who helped.

Newsletter pays its way

The North Laine Runner has again raised slightly more in advertising than it cost to produce. Thanks again to Jackie Fuller for all the work she puts in to producing such a high quality newsletter (it seems to get better each year), to Paley O'Connor for collecting the advertising and to Gabrielle Villermet for organising the distribution.

Table sale

My thanks to Gabrielle Villermet and to Sandy Crowhurst for this year's table sale, which was particularly successful, and to all those who helped or donated goods. (I should apologise again that last year's was entered in the wrong place in the 2005 accounts.)

Examining the accounts

Thank you to David Martin and his team at Mazars (Chartered Accountants) for again providing their services free of charge - a more involved task this year as the income exceeded £10,000 - and particularly to Cara Bushell for all her work.

Thanks to the officers

Finally, I would like to thank Peter Crowhurst, Sara Bragg and Mark Erickson for the great job that they do as officers of the Association and to assure them and the NLCA of my continuing support now that I have completed my maximum four years as Treasurer.
