I am trying to find out more information about the Star Foundry which was (or is) situated in North Road. Their trademark, which was shown on many of their larger items, was a six-pointed star, similar to the Star of David. Can anyone help?
The Star Foundry was located at 22/23 Bread Street, on the western side of the road close to North Road. It was founded in 1875 and remained on that site until the early 1900s when it was removed for an extension to the electricity works. Many of their coal hole covers can still be seen around North Laine, especially in Queen's Gardens. You can see photos of the foundry on the James Gray Collection website (http://regencysociety-jamesgray.com/volume25/index9.html).
