Kensington Street

A brief history

By Maureen Brand, North Laine resident

Kensington Street was built circa 1823-30.

Today the Argus Lofts building (ex newspaper print house and offices) stretches along the eastern side of Kensington Street with workspace at ground floor level and loft apartments above.

Graffiti art

The western side has a few old cottages interspersed with vacant lots decorated with 'graffiti art' serving as car parks.

Featured on TV

The corner shop, fronting on Gloucester Road and known as Ju-Ju featured in 2007 in the television series "Mary Queen of Shops".
