A brief history
By Maureen Brand, North Laine resident
St George's Mews is a narrow side street between Gloucester and Trafalgar Streets.
Built in the mid 19th century, the 1881 Page's street directory describes it as "St George's Mews: formerly called Trafalgar Lane", with hay and straw stores, an engineer and small houses.
On the western side is part of the housing development fronting Gloucester Street, and old cottages. On theĀ east side are new terraced cottages/work units built in 2003.
