Sir Peter Blake, godfather of pop art, celebrated his 80th birthday with an exhibition at Ink_d Gallery in North Road in July 2012.

Best known for his Sgt Pepper sleeve

Sir Peter is perhaps best known for his record sleeve design for Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, one of the most famous record covers ever produced. In the 1950s he was one of the best known British pop artists and exhibited in the Tate Gallery alongside David Hockney.

An updated version produced

To mark his birthday he produced an updated version of the Sgt Pepper record sleeve and his exhibition at Ink_d included both new and rare pieces of his artwork.
