New BBC1 police drama series filmed in North Laine

During April 2015 Tiger Aspect Productions started shooting a new 8-part police drama series for BBC 1 based in Brighton, Shoreham and Worthing. It’s called ‘Cuffs’ and portrays the everyday roller coaster life of being a police officer in the UK. Over-stretched and under-resourced the characters have to deal with everything the job throws at them.

Scene filmed around North Laine

One scene involving police officers chasing a shoplifter was filmed in North Laine on 13th April. First they arrest a suspect on the pedestrianised area of Gloucester Road, then there is a chase through Kensington Gardens, Trafalgar Lane and Jew Street.

A weekday hour-long slot

The series, each episode lasting an hour, will be screened at 8pm on weekdays (start date unknown as at May 2015).

Stereotyped city?

Who was it who said that Brighton is a city that looks as if it is helping the police with their enquiries?
