If within the time limit, applications affecting the North Laine are discussed at the NLCA monthly meeting, on the second Tuesday of each month, and a view is taken as to what our response should be. Click here for details of the next meeting.

When will the NLCA object to a planning application?

Should we feel that an application is detrimental to the conservation area, we will always object.  Should we feel that an application distorts the mixed use nature of the area, we will also object. To have an input into these decisions, please come along to the monthly meeting or add your comments below, making clear to which application you are referring.

Comments/reviews:

Hello there, l was a bit taken aback when l by chance saw a planning application for 14 Orange Row, BN11UQ, to add another floor and roof terrace. This is a bit of a shock as it adjoins my Grade Two listed cottage, number 16. l Rent the cottage at present and when l checked BHCC planning l was sent a letter, but as l'm not in residence at present did not receive it. l wondered if the NLCA was aware as it's not on your list of planning either. In essence l do not disapprove of them coming up to be level with the other Live/work units on Orange Row but do not think it should be allowed to equal the house height as it diminishes the integrity of the cottage and its Georgian origins. Do you as an association have a view? Kind regard

Dear Gloria, I have referred your concern to the NLCA's planning officers who will look into the matter. Comments Editor
