Aird & Co and Two Way Books

After trading in Bond Street for 126 years, AIRD & CO, the tool specialists, is due to close for the last time very soon. It has been an institution in the street since 1888 and for the last 20 years has been run by Mr & Mrs Carey. It is one of the last old traditional shops in North Laine.

Another shop that is closing is TWO WAY BOOKS in Gardner Street, run by Jim. It first opened in the 1960s. Jim has always had a huge selection of second-hand books and magazines as well as comics. This is probably the only second-hand magazine store on the South Coast. The stock changed every day and it has been the best place to find a 'Mills & Boon' from many years back or a Manga, Spiderman or Mad magazine, as well as many other categories including Romance, Science Fiction, Historical Fiction, Crime, War, General Fiction, Horror, Westerns, Children's, and Non-fiction.

We wish the owners of both these shops a very happy retirement. We will never see their like again!
