Money raised to go towards a new play area

By Peter Crowhurst, North Laine resident

Brighthelm is hosting a huge charity gig on August 12th in aid of ‘Nature for Nippers’, a project to build a bigger, safe and educational play area for the children of the preschool who are all from unprivileged backgrounds.

Two stages

There will be two stages: the outside stage running from 1.00 - 5:30pm and the indoor stage running from 6:15 - 11.00pm.

From 1pm until 5.30pm there will be live music in the Centre’s garden and Street Diner will be on hand to ensure that gig goers are well fed with lots of scrumptious food.

Then from 5.45pm the doors of the Centre’s Auditorium will open for a full programme of entertainment until 11.30pm.  Although the headliner is yet to be announced, the line-up is shaping up nicely.

Who is performing?

Acts confirmed for the garden stage are:

Matt Murphy
Dr Jam & Mr Alex
Tagore Chayne
Jack Evans
Acts confirmed for the main stage are:
Take Manhatten (full band)
Sound of Eden
Deirdre Faegre
Yazmyn Hendrix

With more acts still to be confirmed this promises to be a brilliant day.
Entertainment in the garden will be free.  Entry into the Brighthelm Centre auditorium for the evening entertainment will be a mere £3.00 (on the door).  There will also be volunteers shaking buckets for your donations and a raffle with loads of fabulous prizes to be won.

Aim of the day

The aim of the day is to raise as much money as possible towards the creation of a new playground for the under-privileged children whose pre-school group uses the centre.
