Sixth NLCA Comedy Night, 2nd September 2015

By Kathy Spencer, Chair of NLCA Social Subcommittee

Back by popular demand is the latest and sixth NLCA comedy night at top comedy venue Komedia in Gardner Street on Wednesday 2nd September 2015 at 7.30pm.

Some new rising stand ups

We've got a fresh crop of rising stand ups to add to those seen on previous nights, such as Romesh Ranganathan, now regularly on TV and who has just been given his very own BBC series.

Professional comics and competition finalists

This time we've got several professional comics, national competition finalists plus local talent, all giving their time for free. All funds raised go to the NLCA plus a donation to another local charity. Tickets at £5 are on sale at Raining Books in Trafalgar Street. There will also be a raffle on the night with some great prizes.

Compere Dan Fardell

The evening will be compered by popular local comedian DAN FARDELL. fresh from his debut solo show at the Edinburgh Fringe.

"Writing with the efficiency of the slickest American comic" - Steve Bennett, Chortle

"An entire set of beautifully crafted individual gems" -  Adam Bloom

Headlining we have two great acts:

DAVID JORDAN: Musical comedian David was a finalist in last year's Brighton Comedy festival awards and this year's Leicester Mercury new comedian of the year..

“Musical masterpieces” – The Argus

“Six-stringed applause machine” – Chortle

SUZY BENNETT: The delightful Suzy is a professional comedian and former winner of the national Funny Women awards. Warm and chatty Suzy has been compared to a ‘young Dawn French’ and comes direct from her solo show run at the Edinburgh Fringe.

""Vibrant, gorgeous and extremely funny” – BBC

PAUL TRAYNOR: Likeable cheeky chappie-style delivery of quick one liners and observational comedy

JANE POSTLETHWAITE: Actress and character comedian. Funny Women semi finalist Jane brought her debut solo show Made In Cumbria to the Brighton Fringe to critical acclaim this year.

Local comics SHA WYLIE and BRIAN COWLES were both finalists in the Silver Comedy contest for older comedians this year and Brian, a.k.a. rapper alter ego Gerry Raptic, was overall runner up.

JOSH DILLON is a new comedian delivering dead-pan, dark, observational comedy.

Glaswegian living in Brighton JOHN TANSEY was a finalist in the Squawker comedy awards and a semi finalist in the BBC New Comedian of the Year award.

It's a great line up so see you on the night!
